Volunteer Opportunities Available

  • Educational Surrogate Parent (ESP)

Join our team of Educational Surrogate Parents. ESPs provide support at educational meetings for students who are in the care of the state or who do not have a parent who can legally represent them. ESPs are required to attend a 6-hour training, complete all required paperwork, participate in a background check, and communicate in a timely manner with Illinois State Board of Education representatives and Family Matters staff as required by the program. We need ESPs throughout the state. Please reach out via phone to 1-866-4FMPTIC for more information.

  • COMPASS: Coaching Others and Mentoring Parents about School Services

Participate in our 10-week COMPASS program! We need volunteer mentors to provide support and education to families throughout the state. Mentors provide coaching, resources, and education to families seeking Special Education services. Mentors are required to complete a 10-week online training, complete all required evaluations, complete all required paperwork, and communicate with FMPTIC staff regarding volunteer activities in a timely manner. If you would like to learn more about participating in the COMPASS program, please reach out via phone at 1-866-4FMPTIC.

  • Fundraisers

FMPTIC holds several fundraisers throughout the year to support our work and services to families. If you would be interested in assisting with a fundraising event, please reach out to us at 1-866-4FMPTIC.
