Join our team of Educational Surrogate Parents. ESPs provide support at educational meetings for students who are in the care of the state or who do not have a parent who can legally represent them. ESPs are required to attend a 6-hour training, complete all required paperwork, participate in a background check, and communicate in a timely manner with Illinois State Board of Education representatives and Family Matters staff as required by the program. COACHING OTHERS AND MENTORING PARENTS ABOUT SCHOOL SERVICES
The COMPASS Program, offered by Family Matters PTIC, is a structured 10-week training designed to empower parents, caregivers, and professionals with the knowledge and skills to effectively support children with disabilities. The program provides practical guidance on navigating special education systems, understanding advocacy strategies, and fostering collaboration between families and schools.
Participants in the Family Matters PTIC COMPASS program must commit to actively engaging in the learning process by watching an uploaded session each week, completing a pre-test and post-test, and taking a weekly quiz to assess understanding. Additionally, participants should be comfortable navigating Google Classroom to access materials, submit assignments, and track their progress. This commitment ensures a meaningful and structured learning experience, enabling participants to gain the most from the program.
