Description
Understanding Functional Behavior Assessments (FBA) & Behavior Intervention Plans (BIP) is designed for caregivers and professionals who want a clear, practical look at how schools understand and support student behavior.

During this session, participants will explore when and why an FBA is used, what the assessment process looks like, and how meaningful data drives the development of an effective Behavior Intervention Plan (BIP).

We’ll also discuss into what happens when the data doesn’t point to a BIP, how to implement strategies with consistency, and ways to monitor progress and fine-tune interventions over time. The training highlights the essential partnership between families and school teams and shows how each plays a vital role in ongoing behavior support.

Participants will leave with Illinois-specific tools and resources to strengthen collaboration, improve communication, and support confident advocacy.
