Advocating for your child to receive the right behavior interventions can feel completely overwhelming. Between the complex acronyms and strict timelines, it is easy to feel lost. Ultimately, ensuring your child receives the correct support in a timely manner is what matters most. However, as parents and caregivers, we sometimes need guidance on how to articulate our concerns and advocate effectively.
In this series, we will take an in-depth, step-by-step approach to behavior interventions together. We will demystify the system by learning exactly what Functional Behavior Assessments (FBAs) and Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs) are and how they work. We will start by learning how to decode behavior to understand which strategies to try, and then explore how to communicate what this looks like in an early childhood classroom.
We will also cover the vital laws put in place to protect students with disabilities, ensuring they receive the support they need to remain in the Least Restrictive Environment (LRE). Our goal is to make sure timely, accurate assessments are completed, leading to a truly effective plan that helps your child thrive.
