Parent-School Communication Strategies That Work

Parent–School Communication Strategies That Work is a professional development presentation designed for caregivers and professionals who support students with disabilities. Hosted by Family Matters Parent Training and Information Center (FMPTIC), this session explores practical, research-based communication strategies that strengthen collaboration between families and schools. Using Charting the LifeCourse (CtLC) principles, participants will learn how to build trust, align goals, and promote student-centered decision-making. Through real-life examples, interactive discussion, and a mid-session knowledge check, attendees will gain actionable tools to improve IEP and 504 communication, address barriers, and ensure that every student’s voice and vision are represented in educational planning.
