Assistive Technology (AT) and Alternative Communication (AAC) Evaluations and Devices Evening Session
This four-part series presented by the Illinois Assistive Technology Program (IATP) will offer short, 30-minute sessions throughout the year introducing families and caregivers to the various programs and services available through IATP and to the world of Assistive Technology (AT) and Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC). Every child’s educational and communication needs are different. Understanding the types of AT/AAC available and how to obtain them can play an important role in empowering parents while advocating for their child’s needs within the educational setting.
Think your child could benefit from AT/AAC? Knowing where to start can be difficult. This presentation will briefly introduce you to IATP’s evaluation process, discuss what an evaluation might look like, and discuss the process for obtaining various AT/AAC equipment.
