This session explores the intersection of mental health and education, focusing on supports that promote student well-being and academic success. Topics include social-emotional learning (SEL), school-based mental health services, Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS), Functional Behavioral Assessments (FBAs), Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs), counseling services, crisis intervention, and safety planning. Participants will learn to identify key components of SEL and effective behavioral strategies, understand the purpose and process of FBAs and BIPs, and gain practical tools for advocating for mental health services and supports within a student’s Individualized Education Program (IEP) to ensure comprehensive, student-centered support.
