Deb Einhorn has been advocating for students with disabilities since1990. Her educational background includes Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Special, Secondary, and Elementary Education.

Past experience teaching students with disabilities from pre-school through high school ages provides Deb with the educator's perspective during Individualized Education Program (IEP) meetings. Her experiences as the Director of the Family Support program provides insight on family and student perspectives at IEP meetings, while additional experience supporting adults with disabilities also provides Deb with a familiarity of the issues of transition planning and self-advocacy.

Deb promotes the wisdom and values of parents while representing their children with disabilities during advocacy for the most appropriate and most inclusive services in schools.


Nancy Mader

Nancy Mader is the Project Coordinator for the Family Matters Parent Training & Information Center. Her educational background includes an emphasis in Business Management and Accounting. Nancy is responsible for recording statistical data, assisting with preparations for trainings, budget monitoring, and maintenance of the program's database.

Nancy began her employment with ARC-CSS in 1989 as an Administrative Assistant to the Director of the new Family Matters Program. In 1992, Nancy became Coordinator of the program and currently coordinates the services of the Family Consultants.


Kim Bewley

Kim began her employment with Family Matters in September 2003.  Kim received her Bachelor of Science degree from Southern Illinois University at Carbondale. Her experience includes bookkeeping for a financial institution and working as the Administrative Assistant to the Vice President of External Relations at The Monmouth College for nine years. 

Kim is the parent of a son who receives special education services. Kim coordinates regional trainings throughout the 94 county area served by Family matters. She prepares and distributes flyers and public service announcements notifying families and professionals about the special education training opportunities we are offering in their area. She collaborates with trainers and host agencies in training preparation, compilation of handout materials, and in processing final training statistics.


Kristin Gharst

Kristin is employed as an Information Specialist at Family Matters Parent Training and Information Center. She has been as a Respite provider and volunteer with a Birth to Three playgroup. She worked as a Residential Program Specialist for adults with disabilities. Her educational background includes a B.S. in Consumer and Family Sciences/Family Services from Eastern Illinois University in 1995.

Kristin is the mother of two children, one of whom has been through Early Intervention and Early Childhood and currently receives special education services. She has worked on IEP development for her own child with special needs, assisted other families in linkage to support services, and promoting positive change within the school system. She believes that knowledge, respect and teamwork are essential ingredients to success and in effective implementation of services for their child. She works to assist other families to attain appropriate services for their children.

Karrie is employed as an Information Specialist at Family Matters Parent Training and Information Center.  She began her employment in July 2005.

Karrie is the mother of a child who has been through the Early Intervention Program, Early Childhood Program, and receives Special Education services.  She is knowledgeable in navigating different sides of the surgical and medical diagnostic fields due to her child's lengthy medical history.  She is a source of support to parents who are navigating the same fields.  She draws upon her own experiences when helping parents with each and every one of their concerns.


Kendell Kean

Kendell is employed as an Information Specialist at Family Matters Parent Training and Information Center .  She began her employment  in September 2006.  Her educational background includes studying Elementary Education with emphasis in Psychology and Sociology. 

Kendell is the mother of three children, one of whom has a learning disability.  She is familiar with working with schools during the process of requesting and undergoing case study evaluations, obtaining special education services and implementing Individualized Education Programs (IEP’s).  She uses that knowledge when helping families secure appropriate services for their children.
